About this Validator

This tool validates Australian Company Numbers (ACN) according to the official format and validation rules established by the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC).

The validator checks if a given ACN follows the correct structure and verifies the check digit using the official ASIC algorithm.

This validation only confirms if an ACN follows the correct format. It does not verify if the number is actually registered with ASIC.

What is an Australian ACN?

The ACN is a unique nine-digit identifier required for every company registered under Australia's Corporations Act 2001. It's issued by ASIC and must be displayed on all official company documents.

ACN must appear on: • Company seals • Public documents • Eligible negotiable instruments • Documents lodged with ASIC

ACN is not required on: • Packaging and labelling • General advertisements • Credit cards and vouchers • Machine-generated receipts • Business cards • Television advertisements

If you need to generate an ACN for testing purposes, here is an Australian ACN Generator
